What is a dialect? And how do I write with it?

A dialect is a regional, local variation of a native language. It differs from the native language and other dialects in grammar, vocabulary, form, syntax and sound system. In Germany there are various dialects, or as they are often called, dialects. The best known are probably Bavarian or Saxon, but there are also a large number of other large and small dialects. German-speaking dialects outside Germany are also included. Dialects are generally due to the retreat from everyday speech. However, this retreat varies from region to region and is not related to northern or southern German differences.

But how do I write a text in dialect, or rather, how can I translate dialect?

We at Mindverse have developed an engine to translate sentences into dialect. Of course our engine can't write all dialects, but some common ones like Bavarian, Saxon, Franconian or Swabian are available in our engine. If you have logged in to Mindverse , you can search for the engine "rewrite dialect" in the search box and click the tile. This will open the engine page with an input and output field. In the input field you can now simply paste or write the text that you want to have translated into dialect. All you have to do is select the target dialect from the drop-down menu and press the "Create" button. Your translated text will appear in the output field and you can use it. If you don't like the translation, you can of course press Generate again and get another text. Because our texts are generated by AI, each result is unique and created individually for you. This way we prevent duplicate content and you can get a result that suits you from the same input.

A good example would be the following sentence:"Good day, how are you today? I wanted to ask if you would like to meet up with me later?", which was translated by our engine into East Frisian as follows:"Hei, wi goot et di todaag? Ik wul fraage, of du lus heest un tied hääst, di määt mi to määt?"

You can then transfer the text to our rich text editor as usual and edit it there. Important features like rewriting text or rewriting sentences are available there. You can also save or copy the text and use it directly. If you now also want to have a text translated in dialect, you can register for free at Mindverse and have a text translated directly with your 20 free requests.
